Arcitectural synthesis 4: collective housing - Social housing-participatory planning (D3)  (sub-pages)

Course content Integration of a residence unit into a wider complex, existing or planned to be built, focusing on the relation between design principles and modes of life. The educational procedure evolves through two alternative approaches. Social housing – participatory planning Residence – space – user. Different modes of life: similarities and differences and their expression in space. The concept of model. Organisation and form of space and objects, based on the needs of particular users. Housing design through participation of a group of users. Social housing – degraded area. In the general framework of specifications and methodology of this module the viewpoint of the sex will be introduced in a few tutorials, integrating the differences of sexes of users during the phase of formulation of the building programme and during the phase of designing. The research in syllabus of other European universities in which there are relevant courses as well as the creation of the School «sex and space issues centre» will contribute to the organisation of the module to these specific tutorials, which will be the reference for these questions.
