Thorough study of urban planning functions in relation to the socio-economic structure and the layout of urban space. Urban reformation, new developments: planning procedures, organising and management of projects, urban planning legislation. In-depth study of urban tissue matters: elements and types of organisation, relations between built and open, private and public space, evolution and transformations.

The analysis, the valuation and the elevation of the quality elements which compose the urban tissue and, in general the urban space, are attained, within the framework of specifications and methodology of this module. Existing theories and views on structure, image and analysis of the natural and structured urban space, as well as the economic, social and aesthetic effects of interventions on urban space, are analysed.
Alternative design principles, which contribute to the procedure of urban synthesis and design, are specified even through the analysis of examples from the urban space.
