"The village Dilofo, in central Zagori, human - nature - constructed environment" Kostas Geranios - Eugenios Gialias - Orestis Mpormpantonakis

The subject of our project is the relationship which evolves between man and the natural environment and the structured environment, as a result. The study derives from the analysis of the traditional architecture of Zagorohoria and most specific the village Dilofo, in Central Zagori.

Through a brief historical review and documentation of the geophysical and cultural elements of the area of Epirus and its habitants, lots of conclusions occur about the architecture of Zagorohoria in relation with the natural environment. This relation is confirmed through drawings of the most characteristic constructions of Dilofo and their functional analysis.

The residents' arrangement according to the functional spaces and the way they are being organised, provides us with a typological table, that leads us in conclusions concerning the relation between man and nature and the way that he constructs the environment.

As a general conclusion man's effort for surviving led him in developing a relation with the nature based on respect, a fact that is absolutely being reflected in the constructed environment of the area that is totally harmonised with nature.
