"The technical projects, as elements of landscape interest. Having as motive the viaduct of Gorgopotamos" Lepida Sofia, Polizou Konstantina

This research is an effort to approach the way technical projects have a dramatic impact on the formation of the landscape and simultaneously, how these react as symbols of the cultural inspiration.

More specifically, the object of this research is to prove, that practices such as architecture or landscape architecture are primarily important, because of their potential to manage crucial cultural subjects. Further more, the practical constructions of human technique in general, can purchase a symbolic tension and become main cultural attempts.

In pursuit to justify the above views, we take advantage of a very interesting example of Greek history, this of the Bridge Gorgopotamos and the historic action of its explosion . It is important to mention that the Gorgopotamos Bridge, is related with the constitution of contemporary railway network in Greece, but also with the sabotage of Greek rebels against the German conquerors, in 1942.

The participation of the bridge to the formation of the landscape, in relation with its symbolic character, gives an end to the above analysis and leads to further conclusions, regarding technical and architectural works in general.
