Every year a lot of manufactures are forced to suspend or limit the enterprise’s operation, as they can’t adapted into the contemporary entrepreneurial environment, in consequence of the devitalisation of historical cities’ centres. The basic goal of the Project is the customization of the handcraft sector into the contemporary entrepreneurial environment, which aims to urban development. This customization must be of utmost priority, since it is directly connected with the economic survival as well as the perpetuation of the traditional professions that these manufactures exercise. This proposal anticipates the development of integrated mechanisms and broader cooperation between the manufactures, the stakeholders, the local authorities and the vocational training institutions aiming at providing substantial support to the enterprises and their employees regarding the new demands of production and distribution, customer service and provision of services, that derive from the globalization of trade and the introduction of new technologies, in order to reinforce the urban development of historical centres. The main aim of the project is the organization of a network of manufacturers that – after having customized their structure according to the needs and demands of the market – will cooperate aiming at the preservation, promotion and highlighting of the cultural heritage as well as achieving our national goal of reducing unemployment. The encouragement of this network could strengthen this innovative effort since small enterprises will have to cooperate in order to survive and face the challenges and competition.
